Thanks for stopping by Jeanne I think the latter paragraph is most relevent as to why a lot of Technorati links don’t seem to count towards “Authority”. I won’t say I’ve given up altogether on these “ranking” systems, the most use they have is for ppp. But it’s fair to say I give them less relevence to my overall website strategies. But if one is a blogger, we need to take it all in

Technorati authority actually represents the number of blogs that have linked to your site during the past 60 days–rather than the number of blog reactions, or individual links to your site. (That’s why you’ll generally find the number of blog reactions listed on your Technorati profile to be quite a bit higher than your Technorati authority.)

If a blog links to your site multiple times during a 60-day period, it’s still only counted once and therefore only raises your Technorati authority by one. Multiple links from the same blog are still a good thing, though, because while they don’t raise your authority, they do help you maintain a higher Technorati authority for a longer period of time.

I’ve also noticed in Technorati’s explanation of blog authority on their website that the only blog reactions that show up on your profile are those from blogs that are either listed with Technorati themselves or that ping Technorati when they update.

Firstly, in Snapshot one can compare only three sites. Secondly, sites with less that 10000 uniques are excluded and thirdly, this is available only for the US audience. These three limitations still keep Google the favorite followed by Alexa.
